About Three score dance

Our purpose is to enable older people to create and perform contemporary dance – work that engages, entertains and captures the imagination. With professional choreographers we explore the potential for artistic expression by older people through the art form of contemporary dance. In doing so we aim to change perceptions and challenge expectations about ageing.

Based in Brighton & Hove, we were set up in 2012 by Saskia Heriz and Christina Thompson with support from South East Dance. Their vision of a contemporary dance group for older men and women was inspired by The Company of Elders at Sadler’s Wells and the work of legendary choreographer Pina Bausch. Since then we have created a reputation for the quality of our work and our strong group identity. We have created new audiences, inspired participation in dance, and fostered inter-generational projects.

Three Score Dance is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO). It has a Board of Trustees to oversee the Company’s finances and artistic and participation policies. Day to day management is provided by an executive Management Group. We are also very grateful to our Company members for their time and effort in helping run various Three Score Dance activities on a voluntary basis.
