CREATIVE CLASS 1 WITH STUART WATERS - 7 Jan to 11 Feb 2026

from £8.00

COURSE LEADER STUART WATERS

Shaped by a rich 26-year performance career, Stuart’s practice is rooted in embodied exploration and creative processes, centring the self as the primary tool for making. Over the past decade, he has developed a distinctive approach through independent research into how we stay safe – emotionally, physically and creatively – within artistic practice.

Stuart’s work brings together pastoral care, emotional awareness, access-led thinking and
care-centred frameworks to create spaces where people can genuinely arrive as themselves.
His reflective methodology invites participants to tune into who they are, what they need and how they want to express themselves.

At the heart of Stuart’s approach is a commitment to inclusivity, care and empowerment. His classes blend technique and creative exploration, using conversation, reflection and metaphor to understand the body, honour lived experience and shape personal and shared creative choices. His classes champion community and co-creation, encouraging participants to discover, question and build together in a space where every voice and body is valued and expressive.

Open to ages 55+ and all levels of experience or mobility.

WHEN: WEDNESDAY, 12:30 – 2:30 PM (2 HOURS)

DATES: 7 JANUARY - 11 FEBRUARY (6 WEEKS)

PLEASE NOTE: THE SESSION ON 4TH FEBRUARY WILL BE COVERED BY AMY MORVELL

LOCATION: THE DANCE SPACE, SOUTH EAST DANCE

ABOUT STUART

Stuart is a dance artist, facilitator and accredited coach (EMCC Senior Practitioner) with over 25 years’ experience across performance, teaching and leadership in the UK and internationally. An alumnus of Northern School of Contemporary Dance (BA) and London Contemporary Dance School (MA), his practice has evolved from performing and touring to creating, mentoring and curating projects that centre care, access and inclusion.

His work explores the intersections of mental health, disability, neurodiversity and queerness within dance, with major projects including Rockbottom (2016–2019), A Queer Collision (2021–2024) and the ongoing Head:ON Conversations. Stuart has collaborated with organisations such as The Place, Wellcome Collection, FABRIC, South East Dance, Pavilion Dance South West, Arts Council England and Brighton Festival.

He is an advocate for disability and mental health step-change in the sector, currently a trustee of both STEPPS and Dance Network Association, with previous trustee experience at Candoco Dance Company, and is an alumnus of the Unlimited and Clore “Inclusive Cultures” programme.
